About Jo – Founder of Cool Coastal Huts
Hi, I’m Jo, founder of Cool Coastal Huts.
I've owned beach huts for nearly 20 years, and I'm still just as obsessed with them today as when I bought my first one!
Over the years, that passion has taken me further than I ever expected, from George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, to The Sunday Times Style Magazine and sharing my thoughts on beach huts on GB News and beyond.
But at the heart of it, I’m still just someone who loves beach huts and everything about them.
What I believe about Beach Huts
I've always believed a beach hut should feel like somewhere you genuinely want to spend the day, stylish, comfortable and easy to relax in.
I'm obsessed with the details, from the colours and interiors to the books on the shelves, everything is chosen to make the huts feel modern and practical.
When I started, there weren't many contemporary beach huts around. Seeing that style become more popular has been incredibly rewarding, and I'm proud that Cool Coastal Huts has helped lead that change.
Where it all Began...
Our journey started with Frinton 343, a beach hut that’s been part of my family life for over 19 years. My daughters, Ruby and Poppy, grew up spending their beach days there.
Over time, I was often asked if the hut could be rented.Things really took off after we featured on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces. I realised then that people genuinely loved the idea of a more modern, styled beach hut experience.
That’s when Cool Coastal Huts was born. Since then, we’ve grown to five unique huts:
Meet the Team
It’s very much a family effort. My daughters and Mr CCH also help out where needed, from keeping things running behind the scenes to testing new ideas and little updates in the huts.
We also have a small team behind the scenes who help with preparing the huts and making sure everything is ready for each stay. You probably won’t see them, but they’re a big part of keeping everything running smoothly.
Disco is our beach hut dog and very much part of the Cool Coastal Huts family, usually found on the beach or in full relaxation mode.
