Mersea Beach Hut 245 is a large super cool beach hut in a number one beach position. I challenge you to find a better out beach hangout for the day.

Inside You'll Find

A stylish kitchen with a 2-ring gas hob, sink, and all the essentials, basically a beach hut home from home.
A comfy L-shaped bench, loaded with cushions for that laid-back feel
Complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolate (so you don't have to bring your kitchen with you)
Four deckchairs for kicking back and soaking up the sun, There is a windbreak and a Sunnylife Luxe Parasol and base in the beach hut.
A stash of toys, buckets and spades, a body board, board games, and cards to keep everyone entertained and no batteries, screen time or charging required!

Dog Friendly (of course)

Bring your pooch! We welcome up to 2 well-behaved dogs, and Mersea beach is the most dog friendly beach with no restrictions. Water bowl, dog biccies, spare poop bags and a handy dog tether point.

A large beach hut for up to 8 people, including adults, kids, and babies (inside and out). Please keep to this number to ensure everyone has a great time and to avoid any potential nuisance for neighbours. Exceeding the limit could affect future bookings

Practical Information and Amenities

Mersea Beach

West Mersea Beach is a hidden gem with sweeping views over the estuary. The beach is mainly sandy, dotted with shells to collect, and a few pebbles to add character. It’s the perfect spot for paddleboarding, watching sailboats glide by, or simply unwinding. It’s a place that offers something for everyone—whether you’re seeking fun or relaxation

Tide

The Strood (the main road on and off the island) can be covered at high tide so make sure you factor this in to your journey. Beach Hut Parking

Nice and easy - Victoria Esplanade Car Park, is directly behind the beach huts and less than a minutes walk. The postcode for the car-park is CO5 8BH. What3words ///mend.eradicate.toned. It is a pay and display car park with 150 spaces open from March to October (subject to weather conditions). It is open 8am to 8pm Monday to Sunday. Full details of how to pay are listed in the carpark. If this car park is closed then the next closest is Willoughby Avenue car park CO5 8AU, which is just behind the Two Sugars Café which is also open 8am to 8pm. There is also Seaview Avenue car park. Please Note: That the Victoria Esplanade Car Park and Willoughby Avenue car park close and the gates are locked at 8pm. From the November to March it is possible to park in Seaview Avenue car park or on the double red lines along Victoria Esplanade.

Loos

There are loos less than a minutes walk from the beach huts:

Willoughby Avenue Loos behind the Two Sugars Cafe. These are open all year, 8am to 6pm except Christmas Day and New Years Day

Fairhaven Avenue Loos, at the bottom of Fairhaven Avenue (these are closed in winter)

There are is an accessible loo and changing facilities for blue badge holders in Victoria Esplanade car park. Accessible all year if you are a Radar Key Holder

Water

There is no running water at the beach hut. There are various taps less than 1 minutes away and a water carrier in the beach hut. From October to April we advise bringing your own water as The Council sometimes switch the taps off.

Accesibility + Beach Wheelchair

Please call Karen on 07946888063 If you would like a beach wheelchair organised. Karen can arrange for the use of a D-Bug beach wheelchair or Hippocampe beach wheelchair. A minimum of 48 hours notice to arrange and booking is subject to availability, Please let me know by email jo@coolcoastalhuts.co.uk if you do use a wheelchair, as we make a contribution to the Freedom Boat Project

We can also arrange access to the Changing Places accessible toilets and changing facilities located in the car-park directly behind the beach huts. Changing Places Toilets (changing-places.org)

There are two blue badge bays in the Victoria Esplanade carpark. All the beach huts are less than 50 metres from the car-park. Cancellation policy

Q: What happens if I need to cancel or amend my beach hut booking?

Free cancellation or date change up to 7 full days before your hire.

Cancellations within 7 full days incur a £45 admin fee per hire day.

NO cancellations or refunds within 48 hours of your hire day.

In exceptional circumstances (e.g., extreme weather), we may offer alternative dates at our discretion, typically outside of peak season (July–August) and weekend dates.
