Bring your pooch! We welcome up to 2 well-behaved dogs, and Mersea beach is the most dog friendly beach with no restrictions. Water bowl, dog biccies, spare poop bags and a handy dog tether point.

We had a brilliant time at Mersea for the day. The Beach Hut was much larger than we were expecting and pristine inside. It was the perfect base for the kids to play as it’s right on the beach and 5mins from a great little cafe. And when the sun was too much there was plenty of space to sit inside and play board games. Practical Information and Amenities
Mersea Beach
West Mersea Beach is a hidden gem with sweeping views over the estuary. The beach is mainly sandy, dotted with shells to collect, and a few pebbles to add character. It’s the perfect spot for paddleboarding, watching sailboats glide by, or simply unwinding. It’s a place that offers something for everyone—whether you’re seeking fun or relaxation
Tide
The Strood (the main road on and off the island) can be covered at high tide so make sure you factor this in to your journey. Beach Hut Parking
Nice and easy - Victoria Esplanade Car Park, is directly behind the beach huts and less than a minutes walk. The postcode for the car-park is CO5 8BH. What3words ///mend.eradicate.toned. It is a pay and display car park with 150 spaces open from March to October (subject to weather conditions). It is open 8am to 8pm Monday to Sunday. Full details of how to pay are listed in the carpark. If this car park is closed then the next closest is Willoughby Avenue car park CO5 8AU, which is just behind the Two Sugars Café which is also open 8am to 8pm. There is also Seaview Avenue car park. Please Note: That the Victoria Esplanade Car Park and Willoughby Avenue car park close and the gates are locked at 8pm. From the November to March it is possible to park in Seaview Avenue car park or on the double red lines along Victoria Esplanade.

Loos
There are loos less than a minutes walk from the beach huts:
Willoughby Avenue Loos behind the Two Sugars Cafe. These are open all year, 8am to 6pm except Christmas Day and New Years Day
Fairhaven Avenue Loos, at the bottom of Fairhaven Avenue (these are closed in winter)
There are is an accessible loo and changing facilities for blue badge holders in Victoria Esplanade car park. Accessible all year if you are a Radar Key Holder
Accesibility + Beach Wheelchair
Please call Karen on 07946888063 If you would like a beach wheelchair organised. Karen can arrange for the use of a D-Bug beach wheelchair or Hippocampe beach wheelchair. A minimum of 48 hours notice to arrange and booking is subject to availability, Please let me know by email jo@coolcoastalhuts.co.uk if you do use a wheelchair, as we make a contribution to the Freedom Boat Project
We can also arrange access to the Changing Places accessible toilets and changing facilities located in the car-park directly behind the beach huts. Changing Places Toilets (changing-places.org)
There are two blue badge bays in the Victoria Esplanade carpark. All the beach huts are less than 50 metres from the car-park. Water
There is no running water at the beach hut. There are various taps less than 1 minutes away and a water carrier in the beach hut.
Cancellation policy
Q: What happens if I need to cancel or amend my beach hut booking?

Free cancellation or date change up to 7 full days before your hire.

Cancellations within 7 full days incur a £45 admin fee per hire day.

NO cancellations or refunds within 48 hours of your hire day.
In exceptional circumstances (e.g., extreme weather), we may offer alternative dates at our discretion, typically outside of peak season (July–August) and weekend dates.
