If you’ve ever dreamed of a perfect day by the sea, you know there’s nothing quite like a beach hut. From lazy summer afternoons to crisp winter dog walks, hiring a hut can make your day stress-free, fun, and unforgettable.
At Cool Coastal Huts, we get a lot of questions from people planning their beach trips, so we thought we’d answer them all in one place! Whether it’s your first time or you’re a seasoned beach-goer, here’s everything you need to know.
Booking & Availability
How do I book a beach hut?
Booking is easy! You can reserve your hut directly on our website. Just pick your dates, select your hut, and you’re all set. Prefer a personal touch? Email me at jo@coolcoastalhuts.co.uk or call 07979 866 71.
When are the beach huts available?
Our huts are available year-round. You can enjoy them from 9:30am to 7pm, giving you plenty of time to soak up the sea air. Each hut has a key safe, and we send your code 2 days before arrival, along with lots of helpful info.
Are there popular dates I should book early for?
Absolutely! Bank holidays, summer weekends, school holidays, and special days like Easter, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day fill up fast — so booking early is key.
Is there a minimum or maximum hire period?
Huts can be booked for one day or multiple consecutive days (up to 14). If you want consecutive summer or school holiday days, it’s best to book early.
Pricing & Offers
How much does it cost to hire a beach hut?
Our 2026 beach hut hire prices are listed on the website, straightforward, transparent and starting from £80 per day

Are there discounts or special offers?
We often run seasonal discounts. Plus, sign up to our email newsletter to get 10% off your first booking (we promise not to spam!).
Cancellation & Amendments
What happens if I need to cancel or change a booking?
Free cancellation or date change up to 7 full days before hire.
Within 7 days: £40 admin fee per hire day.
Within 48 hours: no cancellations or refunds.
In exceptional circumstances, we may offer alternative dates at our discretion, usually outside peak season (July–August) and weekend dates.
Hut Facilities & Features
How many people can I bring?
Each hut accommodates up to 8 people (children and babies included) and 2 well-behaved dogs. Please respect the boundaries of your hut for safety, comfort, and good relations with neighbours.
What’s provided in the hut?
Our signature L-shaped indoor seating (4–6 people)
4 deckchairs
2-ring gas hob, sink, matches
Cutlery, plates, bowls, mugs, wine glasses, pans, kettle
Complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate
Salt, pepper, vinegar sachets
Beach toys, board games, colouring, binoculars
Windbreak, parasol, tide tables
For dogs:
Water bowl
Dog treats
Poop bags
Dog parking station
Important notes:
Frinton 343 has seasonal dog restrictions; Frinton 188 and Mersea are dog-friendly year-round.
Do the huts have fridges or running water?
No electricity, so bring a cool bag. Water taps are nearby, and a water carrier is provided. Council taps may be off from October–April.
Are there toilets nearby?
Yes, public facilities are a minute’s walk from each hut. Mersea also has an accessible loo block.
How far is parking?
Frinton: along the Greensward (~200m from huts, free)
Mersea: Victoria Esplanade Carpark (behind huts)
Disabled parking / Blue Badge bays available

Yes, Mersea has a small park for children under 10.
Accessibility
Are the huts wheelchair or mobility-friendly?Some huts are accessible — check the hut page for details or call 07979 866 71. We can provide an accessibility video to help plan your visit. Beach wheelchair hire is available at Mersea.
Other Common Questions
Will tide times affect my day?
Mersea: The Strood may be covered at high tide for ~1.5 hours, usually if high tide is between 12–3:30pm. Call if unsure.
Frinton: Tide doesn’t affect access.
Can you sleep in the huts?
No — day hire only. We can recommend nearby accommodation if needed.
